Just a short update:
After touring Jaipur, Agra, and Fatepur Sikri, Nechama and I arrived in Shimla by bus last night. Shimla is a medium sized town in the foothills of the Himalayas (elevation is about 1.3 miles) with amazing views of the valleys below. Probably one of the most breathtaking views I've ever seen, and it promises to get better. Today we take a hired car to McLeod Ganj/Dharamsalla, the official home away from home for tibetan exiles and current home of the Dalai Lama. The day after that we'll probably leave Hamachal Pradesh and enter Jammu/Kashmir.

I miss you guys terribly, especially the Wells sisters.

Long story short: I tried to go to bazaar when I was in Jaipur, got lost, wandered far enough to find myself in a part of town where this one guy got jumped in plain sight not 100 meters from a couple of cops and decided to high tail it home. I'll see what I can do while in calcutta, though there are complications that I will explain in my next update.
so, sorry, babe, if I can't get you some lovely shoes.
